Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind Dana Erlandson [G]I got the letter you [C]wrote and the picture you [G]sent. [C] [D] I [G]read what you said but I [C]don't really know what you [D]meant. You said [Em]love is the thing that can [C]bind us or keep us a[G]part. [Em]All I know is the [C]way that I feel in my [D]heart. Out of [G]sight out of mind [C]that's how you said it would [G]be. We both got our own lives to [C]live and we need to be [D]free. You said [Em]don't be afraid of [C]leaving an old love be[G]hind. [Em] All I [G]know is you're [D]out of my [C]sight and I'm [D]out of my [G]mind. So I'm out on the streets of this town and I'm calling your name. I've done more than my share of walking alone in the rain. I've got no sense of direction and I've got no place to turn. Just the words that you said hard hard lesson to learn. Out of sight out of mind that's how you said it would be. We both got our own lives to live and we need to be free. You said don't be afraid of leaving an old love behind. All I know is you're out of my sight and I'm out of my mind. [F]I guess you meant more to [C]me than I meant to [G]you. [Em]Honey why can't you [C]see what you're putting me [D]through. Out of sight out of mind that's how you said it would be. We both got our own lives to live and we need to be free. You said don't be afraid of leaving an old love behind. All I know is you're out of my sight and I'm out of my mind. You said don't be afraid of leaving an old love behind. All I know is you're out of my sight and I'm out of my mind.

A Postcard Dream Dana Erlandson I'm the [G]guy who sorts the US mail on [D]201 I love those picture postcards, and think it's [G]lots of fun. Just to [C]check 'em out and think about what it [G]might be like to be there. [D]That's a postcard [G]dream. I [G]almost feel tlike I've been to see the [D]Golden Gate. Bourbon Street in New Orleans and the [G]Empire State. A [C]postcard home from up in Nome or [G]some exotic place. Were [A]having us a good time but we [D]sure do miss your face. It's a postcard [C]dream. I've been all around this world of [G]time or two. Thanks to all those letters home from [D]folks like you. It's a postcard [G]dream [C] [G] [D] I've seen the Tower of London and the Taj Mahal. The pyramids of Egypt and the Berlin wall. I've seen so many sunset beaches it makes my poor head spin. I guess I've seen most every place that you have ever been. CHORUS and BRIDGE Pretty girls on every beach are wearing next to nothing. I've seen enough to nearly strike me blind. I've seen monster fish and Jackelope's. Postcards home from all those dopes Who claim that they are sorry for leaving you behind. CHORUS So if one day you SAW me walking down your street. Staring at that postcard from your uncle Pete. I wasnt reading what he's writing. No I don't really care. It's the picture I was looking at and wishing I was there.

River Queen 03:06
River Queen Dana Erlandson I [G]dreamed I was a captain, a [Am]man of stately stride. The [D]River Queen was my command. And the [C]river we would [G]ride. From Green Bay down to Appleton. And [Am]all the towns between. We'd [D]fly our flags from silver stacks on [C]board the River [G]Queen. We'd visit all the townships that were scattered along the Fox. We'd rise to meet the river as the water filled the locks. People on the shoreline waved and little children screamed. When we'd let that whistle blow on board the River Queen. [D]Rapid Croche is [C]just around the [G]next bend. The [Am]Cedar Locks are as pretty a place as [D]any place I've been. A [G]sister to the summer wind it's [Am]all she's ever seen. And [D]summer days grow shorter now on [C]board the River [G]Queen. LEAD as verse Rapid Croche is just around the next bend. The Cedar Locks are as pretty a place as any place I've been. And now before the ice forms all along the waters edge. And daylight cracks my window pain and finds me in my bed. We'll winter in the harbor slip and run the bilges clean. The paddlewheel will stand so still on board the river queen.

Talking On The Telephone Dana Erlandson [C]Coming in a little past midnight to the li[G]ght on the message mach[C]ine [F]Hearing what you have to [C]tell me. [D]Knowing what you really [G]mean You [F]said we had something to [C]talk about but you [F]did not find me [C]home So you [F]had no choice. To leave the [C]sound of your voice T[G]alking on the tele[C]phone. You said it wasn't working between us. That we just couldn't get it right Said you've been sittin' home cryin' Thinkin' 'bout it every night But my friends say you've been out on the town, with every other Smith and Jones And I've been spending all of my time trying to get you on the telephone Just trying to get you on the telephone [G]Damn those fiber [C]optics. [G]Damn these modern [C]times [F]I could say I didn't [C]hear you clearly but you'd know that I was [C]lyin' And all the time you were wishing me well I could [F]tell that you weren't [C]alone. [F]Leavng the words of your [C]goodbye message [G]Talking on the tele[C]phone So I'm sitting down here in the barroom cursing Alexander Bell Thinkin' 'bout the times we've spent togeather. Thinkin'that I knew you well And how it all ends in less than a minute. Words At the end of the tone. Me with no chance to say nothing at all talking on the telephone Hearing the words like a "Dear John" letter Talking on the telephone.

Too Much Fun 02:30
Too Much Fun Dana Erlandson I[G] only came in here for one little beer. Now they're puttin' up the barstools and I'm still here. We're having [C]too much fun. We're having [G]too much fun. They're [D]closing this place and it's a quarter-to-one. We're having too much [G]fun. There dancing on the tables and swinging from the lights. It's a pretty wild crowd for a Tuesday night. We're having too much fun. We're having too much fun. I'm hanging around till it's over and done. We're having too much fun. I [C]see no good reason to go home now. I [G]hope that you're feeling the same. We're [C]having more fun than the law will allow. [D]Honey aren't you glad you came. The band's getting better the longer they play. And I don't think I've ever seen you dance quite that way. We're having too much fun. We're having too much fun. And I get this feeling we've only begun. Having too much fun. So don't get excited when they say it's time to go. The clocks are set the bar time and everybody knows. We're having too much fun. We're having too much fun. And I'm hanging around till the last dog is hung. We're having too much fun. They're closing this place and it's a quarter-to-one. We're having too much fun.

Today Dana Erlandson [D]Picture her on the [A]beach. [G]Water [A]kisses the [D]sand. He's just a [A]young boy. Takes that [G]big city [A]girl by the [D]hand. [G]Walks with her down past the [A]trees. Through the [G]canyons of her city [A]streets. To where the [G]fountains are [A]flowing. And the music is [Bm]warm. As the faces of [G]people they [A]meet. [G]She was a girl from the [A]west side of Dallas. [D]He made his home by the [G]bay. If miles weren't so long and [A]their ties were stronger. They [Bm]might be together to[G]day. Might be together to[A]day. I walked down past your house. Most everything is looking the same. An old man on the corner. Says he thinks he recalls her name. He says most of her family passed on. She moved out of town. Was it Colorado, or Phoenix. He can't be sure. It's been years since she's been around. She was a girl from the west side of Dallas. He made his home by the bay. If miles weren't so long and their ties were stronger. They might be together today. Might be together today. Well I wonder where she is today.

All I Ever Need Is You Dana Erlandson [C]Lately I've been thinking how I've [Dm]done you wrong. I [F]never said how [G]much I love you [C]in a song. So I'd have to say this one is [Dm]overdue. [F]All I [G]ever need is you. I try to imagine how it might have been. If you and me had not become We, way back when. Or if you ever left me just what I would do. All I ever need is you. [G]I don't need a ton of money [C]in the bank. [D]I've got lots of love and I've got [G]you to thank. [G7] [C]You're the one I want to be with [Dm]every night. [F]You're the one I [G]want around to [C]hold me tight. You're the one I want to tell my [Dm]secrets too. [F]All I [G]ever need is [C]you. I don't need a ton of money in the bank. I've got lots of love and I've got you to thank. So years from now when we're sitting 'round and we're old and gray. Nothing on our minds and nothing much to say. I can pull out this old song and sing verse or two of All I ever need is you. Cos you're the one I want to be with every night. You're the one I want around to hold me tight. You're the one I want around when the rent comes due. All I ever need is you. All I ever need is you.

Harry And Sara Dana Erlandson [C]Sara sits and stares out the window [F]Harry drives the path of his high beam [C]lights He [F]tries to imagine what [C]Sara is thinking [F]Moving through the [G]dark of an [F]Iowa [C]night [F]Neither knows how far they are [C]going [F]Neither has a whole lot to [G]say But to[F]day they are off on ad[C]venture And [F]every mile is [G]just that much [F]further a[C]way You see Harry lost his job when the factory closed Says he hasn’t had a vacation in years Sara says it’s time that they both get away Now the song of the road is the sound that they hear CHORUS [F]Every morning’s a [C]new beginning Every [G]day is a brand new [C]start [F]Anywhere that they [C]wind up is OK for [Dm]these two hearts. These two [G]hearts So Sara makes his shoulder her pillow Harry strikes a match to his cigarette He passes the time, Spins the radio dial While Sara dreams of places they ain’t been yet

No Place On Earth Dana Erlandson [D]Friday night and I'm here again. Sittin' here where the lights are dim. And the [G]feelings right. Another [D]perfect night. I've got my guitar out on my knee. Singing songs that sound good to me. And do you [G]like them too. [A]I can tell that you do. There's [G]no place on earth [A]I'd rather be to[D]night. [G]I wouldn't trade my [A]place on this stage. I wouldn't [D]give it up without a [Bm]fight. No, There's [G]no place on earth. [A]I'd rather be to[D]night. You people here are the nicest folks. You like my songs and laugh at my jokes. And I've got to say. But I feel okay. Sometimes there's magic that's in the air. Tonight I'm feeling it everywhere. And I know it's true. How 'bout it? Are you feeling it too. There's no place on earth I'd rather be tonight. I wouldn't trade my place on this stage. I wouldn't give it up without a fight. No, There's no place on earth. I'd rather be tonight. I've [G]played some places that [A]I didn't care for. You [D]know that they treated me [Bm]bad. But to[G]night we're together and [A]making this music. It's the [G]most fun I've ever [A]had. And you know that there's [G]no place on earth that [A]I'd rather be to[D]night..
